Hey lovelies, how are we all? Now that my exams are over I’ve had some spare time in my hands.. Yipeeee. Yesterday I went into town to check out what’s currently in the shops at the mo. As summer comes along and fashion completely changes from the winter, it can be expensive when buying new trends. This has inspired me to write this post, helping you guys stay in trend this summer for as little as possible! Obviously deciding what shops you choose your items from is dictated by your budget, however I believe this list is compiled of items which you can purchase almost anywhere (based on my recent visit to Birmingham town centre anyway!).
1. The summer hat
You can always count on a hat to liven up your outfit. It adds that je ne said quoi to anything you might wear making your thrown on outfit look like it’s been carefully selected! I’m loving the mink colour at the moment, and for a hat I think it a perfect because it will go with any colours you decide to wear. It’s like a black hat but for the summer! If you have read about my New Look haul then you will know that I have bought the New Look hat for the summer. Unfortunately I think the colour portrayed here is inaccurate. The shade is actually a lot more like the fedora hat from UO which I’m also loving!
2. The Plain White/Cream Cami Top
Now plain doesn’t have to mean basic. All plain means is that there isn’t much happening. It doesn’t distract your eyes from the other items you are wearing and hence will be a pretty useful thing to have in your closet this summer. There is no harm in buying a few of these in different styles as they will be so handy to match up with. If you’re not a fan of the cropped style then a longer length will be just fine.
3. The Suede Skirt
Whether you opt for real suede or faux suede obviously depends on your budget -but fear not there are some gorgeous skirts out at moment for all price ranges! Also suede doesn’t necessarily mean camel coloured, so if you’re not too fond of that too-close-to-mustard shade or it simply doesn’t compliment your skin tone then why not opt for a mint green or pale pink shade? These are also the perfect item to tie you into Autumn when it begins to get a bit colder!
4. The Flared/Wide Leg Trousers
You can opt for floral print, geometric print or even go plain! These long leg trousers are fab for a day when it’s not warm enough to bare your legs, and you can find the perfect style to complement every body shape! I do believe that for the perfect fit it is wise to spend a little more on trousers like these however you may know a brand that is cheap and well-fitted ? If so please share!
5. The Khaki Jumpsuit/Playsuit
This is the ideal item to tie you from spring into summer and then summer into autumn. It’s an easy piece that can be glammed up with jewellery and heels or worn casually as a quick go to throw on in the day.
6. The Off-the-Shoulder Top
This gypsy inspired style is everywhere. Super complimenting for prominent shoulders and covering up your arms. It can be quite sexy without actually showing off that much skin.
7. A Pair of Espadrilles
Espadrilles are the perfect summer shoe. They are comfy and easily wearable with so much! They can be worn shopping or to the beach. They are so diverse its no wonder they are in right now.
8. A Pair of Timeless Sunglasses
Obviously sunglasses are a tricky item to fit everyones face. Therefore I think it’s essential that you find a pair that you can work that you know will last. Protecting our eyes is so important in the sun so I do believe they are worth spending a bit more on for a good pair. I came across this website here which I think does an amazing job at helping you find the perfect pair so instead of me basically copying it, I decided to just link it incase you’re interested!
My tips for finding the perfect sunglasses are:
a) They should be about the width of your head
b) They should fall to your cheek bone level
c) And they should graze your eyebrows
Go into a sunglasses shop and try a few different pairs on to get a good idea of what suits you best!
9. A Pair of Roman Style Sandals
I love these lace-up style sandals so much right now! They can be glammed up and down and spice up any plain outfit! Maybe even go for a coloured pair?
10. A Fringe bag
The size of the bag you buy obviously depends on your personal preference. I prefer larger bags so I can chuck more things into it, but I do like to have one or two smaller sized cross-body bags for those occasions where I only need some money, keys and phone. I love fringe so much, I bought a fringe bag from Massimo Dutti a couple of years back (unfortuantely they no longer sell it), and I use it alllllll the time! It wasn’t cheap but it was such an investment piece!!
EDIT: I’m extremely sorry guys I thought I had posted this before I went on holiday (about 2 weeks ago now!). So sorry that it has come out so late and we have already begun summer ahhhhh xx
